Tran Van Anh’s husband is Colonel Nguyen Quoc Doan, who is holding the position of Secretary of Lang Son (where the whole leadership of the provincial Police Department was recently involved in spying for China). Doan is known to have been promoted at a rapid pace from Director of Hue Police to Deputy Secretary of Hue, then Secretary of Lang Son.
With poor qualifications and limited capacity, Doan could only advance by having affairs with women whose husbands were officials. Doan’s first wife died of suicide when she heard that Doan was having an affair with Ms. Thanh (name has been changed). His wife died but Doan did not return to take care of her funeral.
Doan applied to become the Deputy Minister of Public Security many times but was rejected because everyone knew that Doan lived a life of “worship to higher-rank officials and disrespect lower-rank people,” where sex was more precious than human affection. Although his father-in-law gave him money to run for the position of Deputy Minister, he lost all his money.
Doan is currently being investigated for his wrongdoings during his time as Police Director and Deputy Secretary of Thua Thien-Hue province, related to the crime of embezzlement, granting licenses to many illegal rare earth mines, and illegally releasing people, etc.
Returning to the story of Gen. Ve, he had a trusted disciple, Colonel Dang Xuan Quynh, who is currently Deputy Director of the Yen Bai province’s Police Department. In 2020, Quynh received millions of US dollars from Huynh Duc Tho – former Secretary of Da Nang – to help Tho escape punishment. Tho is currently buying a house in Australia to find a way to escape.
It is worth noting that Colonel Quynh is currently under investigation for being a spy for Chinese intelligence. Quynh is also the right-hand man of Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc. Quynh was planted to provide economic intelligence to China. Currently, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is considering recommending Phoc to the position of Deputy Prime Minister.
