Why state power in Vietnam does not belong to the people? (Part 2)

A session of the Vietnamese National Assembly

According to Thanh Nien newspaper on October 14, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, when talking about the mechanism and role of the Party and government in relations with the people, affirmed that: “Vietnam’s mechanism, I think, is the most superior in the present era.”

Most opinions on social networks confirm that Mr. Trong speaks cunningly and intentionally deceives the people. If not, Mr. Trong certainly has mental health problems. Does that have anything to do with the failure of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the recent 8th Plenum of the 13th Central Committee?

Today, Thoibao.de wants to dissect with you the issue: In the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam over the past 83 years, what role have they considered the Vietnamese people to have in managing the country? Is it true as the Party’s Propaganda apparatus propagates that, “The Party leads, the State manages, the people own” and the policy “The people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people check”?

Article 2 of the 2013 Constitution clearly states: “The people are the masters, all state power belongs to the people.” And Article 6 affirms: “The people exercise state power through the National Assembly and the People’s Council.”

But reality shows that the people do not know and have absolutely no right to choose their representatives in the National Assembly and people’s councils at all levels. The current election of the National Assembly or People’s Council in Vietnam is just a drama created and performed by the Communist Party of Vietnam, completely non-transparent, lacking democracy and fairness.

A teacher from Da Nang spoke to Thoibao.de on condition of anonymity, for security reasons, said:

There is absolutely no transparency in elections for the people, because the election agency is controlled by the Party. You play soccer and blow the whistle, how can you be transparent? Therefore, it is impossible for the people to be the masters!”

On social networks, someone shared an example: Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh – a diplomat and former senior leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam – once compared and considered the people as children, The Party is the parents. Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh affirmed that children must not argue with their parents, which means people must not argue with the Party. So it turns out, like Mrs. Ninh, the master is not allowed to argue with the servant?

The Communist Party of Vietnam’s platform affirms that they are “the elite representatives of the working class, farmers and working people.” But in reality today, these two classes are the most miserable classes in society.

Experts and public opinion believe that currently, the Communist Party of Vietnam only considers the people as a front in the use of power. Because there is a huge contradiction: You say you give me power, but you don’t let me speak, then how can I exercise power? That makes the power of the people worthless.

The fact that the state does not value the power of the people is not only the fault of the authorities. Talking about the causes leading to this situation, Professor Nguyen Dinh Cong said:

The important thing is the elite of the people, that is the intellectual team, but the intellectual team in Vietnam today is nothing. When people speak out, they will arrest them so the other guys worry about keeping themselves safe.”

For power to truly belong to the people, it is necessary to end the situation where the Communist Party of Vietnam monopolizes the political arena.

According to political analysts, to do the above, there needs to be pluralistic democracy, fair elections with the participation of many parties, so that the people can choose representatives from different parties, bring and protect the rights of the people and the nation. But now, there is only one leading party, always saying they are the best, while the people have no other choice.

There the people who lift the boat, but the people can also overturn the boat. The power of the masses is boundless. History has proven that no one or any force can disregard and deprive the people of their rights, especially when it is clearly stated in the Constitution – the nation’s highest legal document.
