According to a report by the Department of Overseas Labor under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2021, the country sent more than 45,000 workers abroad, equaling 57.3% compared to the previous year.

The number met 50% of the assigned plan (90,000 people). The percentage of female workers working abroad is nearly 15,200 people, accounting for one-third of the total number of workers working abroad.

The data of migrant workers in some main markets are as follows: Taiwan- 19,531 workers (6,487 women); Japan: 19,510 employees (8,335 women); South Korea: 1,036 workers (6 women); China: 1,820 employees; Romania: 795 workers (131 women); Singapore: 713 male workers; Hungary: 465 workers (114 women); and Serbia: 304 male workers, etc.

Regarding the negotiation, signing, and implementation of international agreements, the Department of Overseas Labor has participated in the negotiations, completed, and submitted to the leaders of the Ministry to sign an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding on sending workers to South Korea under the EPS Program.

Completing the dossier, agreeing on the content of the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam and Malaysia on labor recruitment; coordinate with relevant units to advise the Ministry to report to the Government to set up a delegation and kick off the negotiation of an Agreement between Vietnam and Israel on recruiting Vietnamese workers to work in Israel for a definite time; coordinate with relevant units to develop a draft Agreement on labor recruitment between Vietnam and Thailand…

Regarding the tasks of 2022, the Department of Overseas Labor will focus on implementing key tasks and solutions, striving to successfully complete the planned tasks assigned by the Government and the Ministry to send 90,000 Vietnamese workers abroad, focusing on high-income and stable markets.

Besides, promoting the signing of Agreements on labor cooperation with the receiving countries; closely coordinate with diplomatic missions and relevant agencies of the receiving countries/territories to closely monitor the situation of workers working abroad, promptly handle problems arising issues, and ensure the legitimate rights and interests of employees.
